Catching Redfish in Charleston South Carolina
Welcome
to Low Tide Redfish. Our goal is to provide the information you need to make us
your choice for inshore fishing in the Charleston Low Country. This area offers
top quality inshore fishing all year. During the different seasons we can
target trout, flounder, sheepshead, sharks and other inshore species.
However, redfish are here and biting everyday, 365 days a year.
With redfish being first and foremost, they are usually our target
species…limited only by adverse weather conditions. Many people think that when
it is cold the fish don’t bite, well redfish do and they do it even on the
coldest days of the year. Hot, cold and everything in between the redfish has
no place to go but the estuaries, creeks and bays of the Charleston Low Country.
And just like humans, they have to eat to survive. Being on the water at
least several days a week allows us to follow the redfish’s likes and dislikes
on a daily basis. This in turn prepares us for the day you choose to fish the
South Carolina Lowcountry.
We will leave the dock prepared for what has been happening and
what might happen. My 18 foot Action Craft flats boat is specifically made and
equipped to get where the reds live and eat. All of my equipment, from the
trolling motor and power pole down to the hooks and sinkers are tuned for one
thing, catching Charleston redfish.
I only use top quality Shimano reels spooled with 15 pound high
vis Power Pro braided line tied directly to Seaguar Fluorocarbon leaders. This
outfit is mounted to St. Croix or Shimano rods for a combination that will land
even the biggest inshore reds. When using natural baits I prefer Gamakatsu
circle hooks, usually with a split shot or free lined. Artificial baits, such
as Gulp or Z-Man, are usually loaded onto a Falcon weighted worm hook, for a
completely natural look and superb hook sets.
We are fully licensed by the United States Coast Guard and the
South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. My license covers all anglers,
so there is no need to purchase an individual license. We also carry complete
Commercial Charter Fishing insurance, for that extra piece of mind.
Whether you are 5 years old or 90 years old, professional or
novice, we will put you in the right place to hook a lowcountry redfish and
coach you to the best of our ability to land that fish.
